Frequently Asked Questions

Answers to the most common questions about checking your ready card balance, activating your card, reloads, fees, limits, and security.

Balance & Transactions

How do I check my ready card balance?
You can check your ready card balance online through the cardholder portal, by calling the number on the back of your card, at any in-network ATM, or in-store at participating retailers. See our full How to Check Balance guide for step-by-step instructions.
Can I check my prepaid card balance online for free?
Yes. Logging in to the online cardholder portal to view your balance and transaction history is typically free of charge. ATM balance inquiries, however, may carry a fee.
How do I view my prepaid card transaction history?
Log in to the online cardholder portal and open the transactions or activity tab to see all recent purchases, reloads, and fees in one place.
Why is my available balance different from my total balance?
Your available balance excludes pending transactions and merchant holds (like at gas stations or hotels). Once those transactions clear, your available and total balance align.

Card Activation

How do I activate my ReadyCARD?
Activate your card on the official activation website or by phone using your 16-digit card number, expiration date, and CVV, then create a username, password, and PIN. See how to activate your card for details.
How do I set or reset my card PIN?
You can set or reset your PIN during activation, through the online portal, or by calling customer service using the number on the back of your card.
How do I reload money onto my ReadyCARD?
You can reload via direct deposit, cash reload at participating retailers, or bank transfer, depending on your specific card program. Direct deposit is often the fastest and cheapest option.

Fees & Limits

What fees does ReadyCARD charge?
Fees vary by program and may include a monthly maintenance fee, cash reload fee, ATM fee, inactivity fee, and card replacement fee. Always review your cardholder agreement for the exact amounts that apply to your card.
Is there a limit on how much I can load or spend?
Yes. Prepaid cards have daily and monthly load, spend, and ATM withdrawal limits set out in your cardholder agreement. These limits help protect against fraud.
Can I use my ReadyCARD internationally?
In most cases yes, anywhere the Mastercard or Visa network is accepted, though foreign transaction fees may apply. Check your cardholder agreement before traveling.

Security

Are my funds FDIC insured?
ReadyCARD prepaid cards are issued by Pathward, N.A., Member FDIC, so eligible funds are FDIC-insured subject to the terms of your cardholder agreement.
What should I do if my card is lost or stolen?
Report it immediately by calling customer service on your card materials. They can freeze the card, protect your remaining balance, and issue a replacement card.
Is it safe to check my balance online?
Yes, when you use the official cardholder portal over a secure connection. Never share your card details or login information with unofficial websites, emails, or callers.
